History & culture

The history of Kòló

Its name discreetly echoes the Kòló Beti people, deeply linked to this land, and the values of welcome, respect and transmission that inspire our way of receiving.

Entirely custom-designed and built, the yaoundé hotel has been imagined down to the smallest detail. The lines are sober, the volumes soothing, the materials carefully chosen. Precious woods, crafted by local artisans, add warmth and character, without ever distracting from the essential: the comfort and experience of each guest.

Le Kòló is a confidential address, where your stay is lived with elegance, discretion and freedom.

Bernadette Lelievre, Founder

Driven by a passion for authentic hospitality and a deep attachment to Cameroon, Bernadette Lelievre imagined Kòló as a place where excellence of service and cultural roots come together naturally. Her exacting standards, her eye for detail and her vision of a hotel on a human scale have given birth to this unique address in the heart of Yaoundé.

Local craftsmanship and noble materials

Every element of Kòló reflects a commitment to Cameroonian know-how. Precious woods have been selected and worked by local craftsmen, bringing authenticity and character to our spaces. This approach is in line with our desire to promote Cameroonian talent and create a hotel that is deeply rooted in its territory.
